macOS Architect

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of complex macOS applications, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with best practices for performance and security.
• Collaborate closely with developers, UI/UX designers, and product managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and innovative solutions.
• Optimize application performance by leveraging advanced features of Swift, Objective-C, and key Apple frameworks like AppKit and Core Animation.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote adherence to coding standards and architectural principles in macOS development.
• Stay abreast of Apple's evolving technologies, including new macOS updates, and integrate them strategically into ongoing projects for enhanced functionality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate technical challenges, from debugging system-level issues to ensuring compatibility across macOS versions.
• Ensure all applications comply with Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, App Review standards, and security protocols for successful deployment.
• Drive the adoption of agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing to streamline development processes and improve delivery efficiency.
• Evaluate and implement third-party libraries and tools to accelerate development while maintaining high-quality, maintainable codebases.
• Contribute to strategic planning for long-term product roadmaps, focusing on innovation, user-centric design, and market competitiveness in the macOS space.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in software development, with a minimum of 5 years specializing in macOS application architecture and design.
• Demonstrated success in leading the architecture of multiple shipped macOS apps, preferably in high-traffic or enterprise environments.
• Deep knowledge of macOS internals, including memory management, multithreading, and integration with hardware features like Touch Bar and Apple Silicon.
• Proven expertise in agile development practices, version control systems, and collaborative tools like Jira or Confluence.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering solutions under tight deadlines and evolving requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Skills

• Expert proficiency in Swift and Objective-C, with hands-on experience in modern programming paradigms and design patterns.
• Mastery of Xcode IDE, Interface Builder, Instruments, and other Apple Developer Tools for efficient debugging and profiling.
• In-depth knowledge of core Apple APIs, including Core Data for persistence, Core Graphics for rendering, and Networking frameworks.
• Experience with performance optimization techniques, such as reducing latency, managing resources, and ensuring smooth UI/UX on macOS devices.
• Familiarity with security best practices, including encryption, authentication, and compliance with Apple's privacy standards.
• Proficiency in Git for version control, along with experience in branching strategies and collaborative workflows.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to guide cross-functional teams toward shared goals and successful outcomes.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies like Machine Learning integration via Core ML or AR features adapted for macOS environments.
